SEE has experience successfully applying permaculture in urban and rural landscapes, benefiting people all around the world from developing countries, to developed countries. Here's a brief summary of our most recent work.
Anisha Rural project, India, 2012-ongoing
Located in remote Karnataka, India, Anisha Project promotes organic and natural farming methods as a resource for the local people in the region. The region has suffered from drought and environmental degradation associated with conventional agricultural practices and SEE is helping Anisha and their communities to overcome many of these issues through the introduction of permaculture.
We have been working with Anisha over the past 3 years with the latest visit being completed earlier this year. The outcomes of this work to date include:
|
"Anisha and their community network of farmers have seen a boost in vegetation growth and increased quality and volume of harvest yields using permaculture methods"

Ashoka Project, 2014-ongoing
The Ashoka Center works among tribal communities and the area in which they work has been designated as a world heritage site by UNESCO for the ecological significance of its forest-lands. However, the indigenous people in this area are poor amidst bountiful nature and are sought to be pushed out of the forests in the name of conservation. Inside the forest or outside, the tribal communities would have to survive on land based activities.
In early 2014 SEE began working with Ashoka, providing permaculture education and training to the Ashoka team, as well as practical work with the communities they assist. This work will assist them further in their work with the indigenous community in regards to food security and education. More details on this work can be found via the Susila Dharma International e-news link by clicking here. |
Centre for culture and development (CCD) 2014-ongoing
Located in near Channai, India, CCD assists farmers to return to traditional and organic methods of farming that respects the environment, promotes health and guarantees food security for all. The aim is to create integrated, humane, environmentally and economically sustainable agricultural production systems.
SEE began work with CCD early 2014 providing permaculture education and training to the Ashoka team, assisted them to relocate to a new site, a place where they can demonstrate sustainable agriculture to the community as well as practical work with the communities they assist, including site analysis, composting, mulching, boosting up the soil with hugelkultur and installing irrigation pipes for watering system. Clarinda Community Garden and art space, 2011-ongoing
The Clarinda Community Garden and Art Space (CCG) is a community project in the urban fringes of Melbourne, Australia that uses permaculture methods and designs to manage the land and promote sustainable agriculture practices to the wider community. The SEE team are founding members of this project and it began with a barren unused paddock. From there SEE helped to design and implement permaculture design plan for the site. Implementation of the project is a ongoing process and the project has evolved to include workshops, participation from committed volunteers, local tertiary students and local support from the local government, City of Kingston as well as crowd funding campaigns.
